Gran Turismo Project X1 Car Revealed

9What if you could create the ultimate racing car, a vehicle unbounded by rules or legal racing conventions? Literally the fastest car possible. It was a question Gran Turismo’s Polphony Digital asked, and one Red Bull dutifully answered.
“If you built the fastest racing car on land, one that throws aside all rules and regulations, what would that car look like, how would it perform and how would it feel to drive?”
The result: The X1 Prototype. From the press release:
“Red Bull’s aerodynamics expert, Adrian Newey, performed the role of technical advisor on the X1 Prototype project. Adrian is renowned in the motorsports world for designing championship winning cars. Throughout the X1 design process by Polyphony, Adrian contributed his vast experience, as well as a pure, child-like technical curiosity. As a result, the completed X1 Prototype became an extreme car, having a unique form and mechanism unlike any other racing car in history.”

Yeah agree, you couldn’t really appreciate it from that video, but what an opportunity for Adrian Newey, I bet he enjoyed his time designing this car.

If you turn all the front downforce off and upp the rear loads, then crank up the gear ratios and add all engine mods :)

All the racing/le mans etc cars are a bit dull to me. I much prefer the street cars. More character

My only potential concern is just how impossibly difficult this car will be to obtain. Even so, looks good. Well ok, the description sounds good.

Has it got a blown diffuser… and does the front wing flex under cornering? Oops sorry just finished reading the F1 review, must have got me comment boxes mixed up.
Anyway nice to see a really fast car in the game we can unlock and use to blow everything else away for some easy money!

To be honest, this was actually revealed during Sony’s TGS press briefing, as one of the GT5 trailers. I don’t know about other people, but I saw the briefing live on Sony’s Japan website. This is likely the first English language media release though, however.
