According to our go-to site for new details concerning Gran Turismo 5, there are some new details emerging about creation modes in the game. Apparently the info comes from next week’s issue of a Dutch TV magazine called Veronica. Small-printed as a “commercial addition” (which usually means paid-for feature), the special feature talks about various elements of the game, including a couple of things we hadn’t heard of before.
Created tracks can be up to around ten kilometres in length with settings such as the number of corners and straight lengths obviously editable. In addition to that, apparently (we’re working of the GTPlanet translation because we don’t speak Dutch, unfortunately) you will be able to set the start and finish points at different locations and, rather confusingly, set “how often a certain corner is taken”. I’m not sure I understand that myself but it might mean something to some of you GT nuts.
Players will also be able to create their own special events. Apparently these are called “What if” experiences and seem to center around historical race conditions and specific cars.
Head on over to GTPlanet to pick through the other little details in the translation and let us know how you think it’s sounding in the comments below.

I’d like to see the trophy list for this game. I’m thinking it’d take an exceptionally long time to achieve platinum. All of these features will have their own trophy, bronze for create your own track etc. It’s going to set me back about 100 quid though, as i’ll definitely be wanting a steering wheel for playing it with.
Crazyfrog23
cant wait to find out this trophy list, really want to get the platinum in this game as i feel it will be a great achievement though like yourself i really want to buy a wheel but i just cant find a logitech g25 for sale :(
MornelitheVT
If Platinum = 100% then it’s going to take a heinously long amount of time. I’ve never gotten 100% on any of the 4 previous iterations.
yogdog
Managed to get 100% on GT3 (imo, best GT game), but it took bloody ages!

Is a Wheel a must for this game?Or is it fun to play without a wheel to?Will it be harder to play against other that have a wheel online?
They are so expansive and i don’t want to spend that much money on 1game.
tonycawley
It’s not an absolute must, but i think it can get you slightly better times. Kinda like having a fighting stick for street fighter i suppose, you don’t really need one but it does make things easier.
cam the man
It can take a while to get used to a wheel but it’s worth it.

I find it weird, having driving lessons at the moment, steering a car with a wheel sometimes. I’m used to Dualshocks to be honest, in a weird sort of virtual way.
Joe
have you asked the driving instructor if he has a car with a dualshock instead of a steering wheel? most do have one lying around somewhere
Gadbury
Not just for the potentially improved lap times (it’s easier to be smooth with steering and pedal inputs and thus faster), but the level of immerision a half-decent steering wheel adds to the game is incredible. With a pad you just don’t get the same level of feedback that forcefeedback provides through the wheel. If you want to invest, a Logitech DFP or DFGT at least. Not worth buying a cheapo wheel.

How about creating an actual release date Poly?
I’m fine with waiting for the final product because I know it will be worth the wait but seriously I’m almost positive that they’ve just been making up the previous “release dates” to keep the hype alive for this game, just be honest with us and tell us when it will be done.

I think that has a lot of potentional for a couple of comps on here.
Can’t wait to get it.
gideon1451
Oo yes, I like the sound of that.
solidsteven
i wouldn’t be surprised if there were 5 meets a week for gt5.
gideon1451
I’ve just come back from a driving lesson & am all revved up concerning driving now.
Bring on GT5, soon please :)
woodsy321
You take it steady in your 1.2 yaris!!!
Origami Killer
Cant wait for it now, wasnt interested a few months ago but in the past few weeks and really want it, maybe it was becasue i went go karting a few weeks back and gt5 has go karting as well :D
Jaffa-the-Cake
Maybe the quote concerning how many times a corner can be taken is in relation to the amount of laps, so you can change how many laps your track has. Or maybe its just ‘lost in translation’ as they say. Either way i’m stoaked for this game, bought my ps3 back just to play it.

Since you can’t design the course corner by corner, maybe “how often a certain corner is taken” refers to how often a certain TYPE of corner is taken? For example, Hairpins = 2, Chicanes = 4, and so on. What do you think?
Darth Newdar
Sounds excellent. GT5 is surely one of the largest games ever? :)
