Gran Turismo 7 file size and PS5 preload date revealed

Gran Turismo 7 is coming pretty fast and, like most big PS5 games, will require a hefty chunk of space on your console’s hard-drive.

Ahead of the racing sequel’s March 4th release date, we now know when Gran Turismo 7 will be available to preload on PS5 as well as the game’s file size.

According to PlayStation Game Size, GT7 will weigh in just shy of 90 gigs at 89.445GB. Note that subsequent updates and patches may increase this.

When can you play Gran Turismo 7 on PS5? Those who preorder the long-awaited PlayStation exclusive will be able to download the game from February 25, 2022. However, it won’t activate until a couple of weeks later on March 4, 2022.

This date will herald the return of racing royalty, promising to be the richest Gran Turismo experience to date. It’s been the best part of decade since the last numbered game in the series, with GT Sport having taken an interesting detour to emphasise multiplayer and encouraging good sportsmanship out on the track.

Gran Turismo 7 will steer fans back to what they’re most familiar with: an extensive single player campaign (which was only added after launch to GT Sport), the most lifelike visuals yet on PS5, and a huge lineup of cars to race in. Famed developer Polyphony Digital appears to be cherry picking the best bits from its flagship franchise. Although the wait has been long, there is hope GT7 will be a redefining hit when it launches in March.

Gran Turismo 7 is coming out for PS5 and PS4 on 4th March 2022, in what was a surprise cross-generational release considering the manner of the game’s original announcement. The PS4 version obviously doesn’t support ray tracing or the DualSense controller, but it will be fascinating to see how close the experience comes in terms of graphics on the PS4 Pro, and when racing using a racing wheel peripheral. If you want to upgrade from PS4 to PS5, you’ll be able to pay the $10 difference to do so.

Senior Editor bursting with lukewarm takes and useless gaming trivia. May as well surgically attach my DualSense at this point.

  1. I recently installed GT Sport from disc onto my PS5, the download to take it to the current version was 59GB resulting in the game taking up over110GB of storage. It looks like Sony has done a good job with all their PS5 wizardry keeping game install sizes to a minimum.

    • GT Sport is also the worst for needing more than the install size to do the update and then taking ages to copy files once it’s downloaded.

      • I don’t know how much space the update took up or the length of time I just noticed the ….of 59GB to download before going off to do something else.
