So yesterday we saw the North American GT5 promotion featuring the almighty overlord of awesome, Kevin Butler, and now we can see how the Japanese go about things.  To celebrate the impending release they decided to shut off a huge road and drive a truckload of cars down it.  We love cars!  Now, I wonder what the UK adverts will be like…

By the way, did anyone else spot ‘Eleanor?’

  1. Looking at the car list, I cant see a Shelby Mustang GT-500… unless it’s secret?
Great ad though, bring on Wednesday!!!

  3. This reminds me, I went to top gear live at the NEC last Sunday, which was brilliant. I was thinking to myself though that Sony had missed a massive opportunity to advertise GT5 and the PS3 as they had no stand there. If they had a few playstations running the top gear test track I gaurantee they would of had interest from just about everyone there. Even people who had never touched a computer could of had a go using steering wheels and would have loved it and probably told their friends that they drove around the test track when they got home. This was a golden advertising opportunity missed in my opinion. Sony give me a job in the advertising department as I know I could do a better job than the monkeys you employ at the moment.

    • Very good point, the show would have been excellent promotion. SCEE really do suffer from poor marketing. Maybe their budget is lower?

    • Could Top Gear align themselves to a company and brand that closely been a BBC owned programme? I agree it would have been an excellent opportunity, however there are often very good reasons why company’s are unable to attend some exhibitions and shows and we all know the BBC’s stance on product alignment so it might have been that.

  4. Top gear live is part of BBC worldwide that makes all of it’s money from advertising, they even had an advert for forza on a projector while waiting for the live show.

  6. Nice advert again … bring on the boring UK one … if there is one!

    • There will be a UK one and I’m confident it won’t be in the ‘start’ campaign style. Something tells me they’ll be aiming at cinema audiences > tv audiences.

    • there will be a UK one… and it will be crap.

Just send KB over here, job done

  7. The cars in the advert aren’t a representation of the cars in the game, if it was half would be Skylines.

    • A bit off the mark. 2 thirds would be Skylines

  8. This hasn’t a patch on the Kevin Butler ad, but you just know the UK ad won’t even be a patch on this.

  9. I’m sorry, I didn’t realise it was 1994!

  10. So i just watched the ad twice and couldn’t help but notice the 11/25 debut which i’m assuming is the release date. Is japan releasing it a day after everyone else or has it been pushed back a day?
