The opening video for tactical RPG ‘Disgaea 4’ has been released, and it looks as odd as one might hope. The ‘Disgaea’ series is well known for its oddness, but also for its high quality and volume of content. It follows the path of Vampire ‘Valbatoze’, who used to rule the Netherworld before an unknown incident forced him to relinquish his role. Sick of the corrupt government that has taken his place, he plans to rise up and overthrow them.

They are incredibly insane but also very fun. If ou can keep track of everything then you’re doing very well. But the whole system works.

This promises to be another good disgaea title although the vdeo seemed a little too calm for disgaea but it was as random as ever. Favourite main character has to be prinny girl so far.

Do I have to play 1-3 in order to get the story or is it like Final Fantasy where the story is usually unrelated to the last game?

Stories are unrelated, but more than likely former main characters will show up in the post-game and make references to their stories.
I would recommend Disgaea to anyone that has the patience to actually sit down with it and give it a go. Once it gets its hooks into you, you will not want to play anything else for quite some time. I’m really hanging out for Disgaea4

Prinny-tastic? Do we have a release date? And no, they don’t follow each other story-wise, although there are plenty of in-jokes featuring guest characters from previous games (Axel from Disgaea 2 seems to feature heavily in that video)
