Virtua Tennis 4 Gets Kinect/MotionPlus Support

SEGA has confirmed that they will be bringing Virtua Tennis 4 to both the Xbox 360 and Wii this spring, in addition to the previously announced PS3 version. That’s not all though, as VT4 has been “developed to take full advantage of Kinect for Xbox 360, and MotionPlus” – and don’t forget it was also one of the PlayStation Move’s best games at Gamescom 2010! For those who are unaware, MotionPlus is an add-on for the Wii controller that increases accuracy.

This is a very interesting announcement, especially as 2K Sports won’t be integrating Kinect for Top Spin 4.

  1. Remember all those PS3 exclusives on the Top 100?
    -1.

Good news for Kinect users, though. It will be interesting to see how the two experiences compare.

  2. Good news, just hope they have worked out a way to move around the court for the kinect version though.

  3. Interesting, it’s tricky to understand how all the little nuances of playing tennis like topspin and length of shot will work on Kinnect though.

    • top spin shouldn’t be a problem as you you do top & slice spin in kinect sports & maybe length will work on speed of swing?

  4. Obviously I’ll buy this for PS3 as the added accuracy ‘should’ enhance te experience. Having said that, is this the first three platform motion title? Could be a good comparison title.

  5. Yep – VT4 with Move Support….

    BANG TIDY!

  6. I don’t get how this works. “Nadal forward”, “Nadal volley”, “Nadal wipe face with towel”? That would work better with McEnroe: “McEnroe, call the ref a Muth..F…… piece of S…”

Or are going to use a real raquet which you scan to the camera? In that case – furniture, duck! …what if you don’t have a raquet?

  7. I can see it now…Kinect users standing in their living room playing tennis with a wooden spoon and DIY safety strap in hand…

  8. Interesting, I dont know which one i will buy, VT always seems more basic than Top spin, hopefully a demo will be out for both
