D&D: Daggerdale To Be A Trilogy?

In an interview with Eurogamer, developer Bedlam Games hinted that their upcoming downloadable title, Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale, may be the first in a series. Based on the recently updated 4th edition D&D ruleset, Daggerdale is an action RPG which promises to stay close to its tabletop roots. Creative director Zandro Chen explains:

Everything we have system-wise in Daggerdale is based off of 4th Edition rules. We work extremely closely with Wizards of the Coast to streamline their system to make it work for an action RPG. A lot of their systems are actually in there, but because it is an action title as well as an RPG we truncated a number of different rules. And we worked with them to get that working properly.

In Daggerdale, players will be able to select one of four pre-set, yet customisable characters including a human warrior, elf mage, halfling rogue, and dwarf cleric. Not only will players be able to change their appearance by equipping different gear, as you gain experience from your dungeon-crawling your characters will gain attributes and feats (in-game skills) up to level 10.

Anyone who has a working knowledge of 4th edition (excluding myself) will know that characters can advance beyond this, training towards the prestigious rank of 30, summoning questions as to whether Daggerdale is just the first of several D&D games Atari hopes to publish for home consoles. Chen even confirmed that characters will be transferable beyond the first instalment which, as previously reported, is due to land sometime in spring.
