Mortal Kombat Challenge Tower Revealed

NetherRealm Studios has revealed a new mode for the upcoming Mortal Kombat called Challenge Tower. Unlike other fighting games, this mode isn’t just about completing a series of difficult combos. Challenge Tower takes it a step further and provides a variety of tasks that sometimes aren’t even related to fighting at all. In total, there are 300 unique challenges for the player to overcome.

As you’ll see in the video below, the missions range from grenade tossing to fighting with no arms. One challenge in particular features Scorpion and Sub-Zero fighting Shao Kahn, but with a twist. Kahn will only take damage if his color matches the character he’s fighting. So if he’s orange, for instance, only Scorpion can hurt him. Another challenge features Johnny Cage and Stryker fending off waves of zombies using only their special moves.

Expanding on the “test your might” mini-games the series is known for comes a new addition referred to as “test you luck.” For this mode, a slot machine will randomly select different modifiers to make your fights more interesting. Some of the variables include fighting headless, being unable to jump, and even fighting upside down. It’s as awesome as it sounds.

It certainly looks like NetherRealm Studios is going all out for this game. April can’t come soon enough.

  3. This actually looks awesome, even though I’m not really into Mortal Kombat.

  4. This has all been done 3 years ago with Soul Calibur 4. “Tower” up or down, random effects, and even challenes (kick only, etc).

    • Okay, maybe not to this extent. =)

  5. Looking forward to this game. Can’t wait. Big MK fan
