Gran Turismo 5 has got another update, this time taking the game to version 1.08.
However, it’s hardly as expansive as past ones, fixing a singular bug: the ability to perform a shortcut on the Special Stage Route 7 course.
And that’s it. Thankfully, it’s only 1.7MB, a mini download for a mini bugfix, although apparently the update isn’t yet available in all regions.
Blame the PSN.

I still haven’t got GT5, how long will all these updates take when I eventually get it? Probably getting it for my Birthday on the 22nd..

With the initial install as well, I’d write off the day

I got it a few months after release, and I left it overnight to download updates, and then installed the whole game after school one day.
Just plan ahead, there’s no point in wasting your time staring at download screens.

I got the game on rental the other day, it only took about an hour to do the initial install and download all the updates, though I do have a pretty fast internet connection which probably helped.

You don’t have to install on the disk to play it. it just speeds things up when you load new tracks etc. but if you just want to get in a do a few races you can do that quite quick. then install and do the updates later.
To be honest, I didn’t really notice much difference. It still take a while to load up each track before a race…

Ah thanks guys. I think I’ll just get it and do all the updates on the Sunday, leave the PS3 to do it’s thing while I cram all the assignments I haven’t done whilst waiting :P

This was an annoying glitch that meant people could complete a 200 lap race in about 8 minutes, giving huge XP and credits. Half the online rooms have been people grinding these. Glad to see it gone.

No wonder they fixed it!

Didn’t know about that shortcut, not that I would have used it anyway. Don’t see the point in buying a game then cheating.

If GT5 was a normal game I’d agree, but after a while it simply comes down to driving a preferred car on a preferred track, and to that end this type of grinding for cash beats leaving your PS3 on for extended durations by a mile. 12 hours grinding replaced with an hours dicking about, less electricity used and less wear on the console? There’s definitely an attraction there.

But not the sense of achievement.

agree with you pete, I dont have a lot of time to invest in GT5, so a handy little glitch like that so I can buy some nice cars would have been nice. Oh well.

PSN is down for maintenance, some games work, some don’t.

Doesn’t seem like the most crucial update ever.
I’d be happy to give them a list of more important things that could do with being fixed!

Good to see updates coming. I’ve not played GT5 in months as I’m at university and setting up the wheel and pedals takes time.
Good to see they actually fix bugs.
Also I’m surprised TSA didn’t report on the 1.12 MW2 patch been released for PS3.

nice to be able to play again & nice to think of the mod users tripping over their bottom lip.

I didn’t even know this glitch existed! Good that they patched it out though, not silly these GT5 people are they?
