Looks like Sony have glanced over at what EA and most other major publishers are doing with regards to charging a set fee for multiplayer on used copies of games and gone “we’ll have some of that.”
Or, at least, that’s what it looks like.
Gaze longingly at the bundle box for Resistance 3 – found here – seems that way, doesn’t it? We’re assuming this is some kind of ‘pass’ system similar to those around, but possibly for use on more than one game.
“Network features only available in countries that have Playstation Store,” says the big blue box, which at least confirms that whatever it is will require access to the PSN Store.
We must stress that we have no idea what this actually is. Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

*Cue raging debate over pre-owned market, again…

Uhoh! this better be included on PS+. I’m not paying again to play a used or rented copy of a 1st party playstation game.

I don’t see the actual point of this, Sony really shouldn’t consider this as it may cause complaints.

The point is to get some money from people who only buy used games.

maybe its telling us that umm? the store is available in the country? I know it sound odd, so they better explain tomorrow or today. It could be Resistance 3 though?

For a second, glancing at the title, I thought we were getting directed down, the gold/silver membership road. My heart sank a bit.

If this is what is being suggested then it’s bad news. Can’t help feeling s little disappointed.

I hope this isn’t another stupid pass thing. Why do developers have to degrade pre owned when they could make buying new an incentive? Rockstar pass is a great idea that made you keep hold of the game if you wanted all the dlc, with the added bonus of a discount. Brilliant idea but nope, it’s less work to just chop out half your game and charge for it. Twats.

This seems fair. When I buy Sony published games they’re usually pre-orders anyway, I mostly go for the special editions (for the steelbooks, I love those things)

If I buy 2nd hand games I tend to go the eBay route. I think the amount places like gamestation give you for your game is a scandal itself! With so many studios going bump, I don’t see the harm in paying for a 2nd hand pass! The other alternative is wait for the games to drop in price!
