A new version update for Mortal Kombat is now available for the PS3. The download weighs in at 31MBs and should fix that annoying desync issue that occurred whenever someone used an alternate costume.
I tested the patch out for a bit and it seems to work as intended. I picked alternate costumes for various characters and the game hasn’t desynchronized once yet. I was playing MK9 a few hours before the patch went live and it feels like the netcode has improved since then. It could have just been the connections of my opponents, though. It’s really difficult to know for sure.
It’s unclear if the 360 version is going to receive a similar update. NetherRealm Studios sent out a press release last week with a step-by-step process to fix the problem manually. Basically, everyone needs to delete and redownload all of the klassic skins.

Great! Now if they would just make a compulsory patch containing DLC compatibility data so I can use my characters!
