Jack The Nipper, Monty Mole, Zool, Bounder, Thing On A Spring, Supercars, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, Switchblade, Trailblazer.
You will now either be:
- Feeling slightly giddy and nostalgic, or
- Wondering if these are the names of games – they haven’t got colons, meaningless subtitles, odd capiTalisatION and the use of ‘z’ where the letter ‘s’ should be.
Ian Stewart, founder of 1990’s development team Gremlin Graphics, is to resurrect the label as ‘Gremlin Presents’. They will be producing titles for iOS devices and the first game in to be released will be ‘Bounder’s World’.
The 8 bit classic bouncer has been updated to take advantage of the iOS platform and will be coming soon to iPod, iPhone & iPad. Level after level of bouncing bonkers!
Note to younger readers: Back in the 1990’s gaming was a far more innocent past time and ‘bouncing bonkers’ meant a ball jiggling across a landscape, it does not mean there is a sexy, God Of War mini-game.

Jack the Nipper is one of my all time favourite platformers, and I play it regularly. I used to have a mate that worked for Gremlin… =)
Tuffcub
I completed both Jack 1 & 2. I spent months player Lotus II against my mates.
minerwilly
Me too , Jack was ace on my Speccy and i fondly remember really enjoying playing Lotus Turbo against my school maters on their “fancy” Amigas and ST’s .
mugsybalone
Oh, Supercars. Loved it, but not so much the feeling of being old it’s just given me.
bunimomike
Supercars was superb and needs to be remade into a PSN title. It would make for electric 4 player co-op (local or online).
BrendanCalls
Zool was one of my early gaming favourites, I pay to get a piece of that on my iPhone
Baxteros
I thought you were strictly anti-retro mate, what was it, old games should be treated like old girlfriends, never go back?
TSBonyman
Zool! … now i want a Chupa chup lolly… anyone know if they still sell them? :)
LivedeviL
I saw some in B&M the other day, not your regular flavours though, some sort of cream flavour :s
Zool was awesome though, don’t think I ever got past the 2nd group of levels
Tuffcub
That reminds me – on a podcast, Peter called them “Choopa choops” – its Chuhpah chuhps innit?
mugsybalone
Ask a Spaniard. Apparently the “Chupa” comes from the Spanish “Chupar”, the verb “to suck”.
Tuffcub
According to the phoentic spelling on Wikipedia its Chupah. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chupa_Chups
mugsybalone
So, like “cup”, rather than “coop”?
TRiLoGY
hmm i would love Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge 1, 2 and 3, but I think Gremlin only Published them.
Baxteros
That’s right Magnetic Fields developed them.
Tuffcub
No chance of them every being re-released due to licensing. Meh :(
Sympozium
I think I got a few gremlin games from the PSS, pretty cool?.. Minis?
Baxteros
Oh man, Supercars 2 was an absolute paradigm for me and was literally played to death on the old Amiga by me and my mates. We played it so much the second disc became corrupted and we could only play the easy tracks. But even then it was great.
I can hear that Magnetic Fields intro music (that they robbed from an Ivanhoe film or something) and it brings back the fever, for me that’s like hearing the Sega chant or Nintendo bing.
The Lone Steven
bouncing bonkers does not mean a GOW sex mini game.*does zip up* good day to you all.:p
It will be interesting to see what they will do as i have never heard of them.
SpikeyMikey23
Lol, for a momant there I though we were gonna go on an adventure with Gizmo and Stripe ;)

i remember some bloody great times playing gremlin games on the spectrum and amiga.
i’d love to see deflektor remade, that was a classic.
and their strategy rpgs like hero quest and space crusade.
DrNate86
I was always more of a Cool Spot fan over Zool myself.
