I’ve recently reignited my love for Forza Motorsport 3 thanks to finally finding the Tag mode in multiplayer. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had online gaming. After getting the disc back in my 360, it wasn’t long before I found my way back to the painting and custom livery options where I’ve probably spent days tweaking vinyls and mixing paint colours. Forza 3 is an exceptional game.
Forza 4 isn’t all that far away, though. Aside from the odd bit of snatched footage and on-stage hot air, there hasn’t been all that much said about it. Well, now a French fan site has got their hands on some new screens – thanks to one of the game’s designers updating his online portfolio – and from those deduced some features.
As you’ll see in the screens below, the UI for the Autovista mode is basically automotive pornography. There’s the usual stunning car visuals but overlaid is a lovely HUD pointing out key facts.
The designer worked on in-car panels and shows some of them off, confirming the inclusion of the Lexus LFA (with wet mode?), the Lamborghini LP700-4 and the Koenigsegg Agere. There is also the indication that rumours concerning time of day and dynamic weather may be true, as those elements are shown in the loading screen images.

That looks beautiful.
I can’t wait, now just let me know that the Tag mode has been developed into a full online mode with a handful of tracks like Benchmark Layout A and many options and it’s a day one buy.

The Kinect controls sound a bit awkward. I’ve never used a Kinect though.

Hope it’s better than GT5 on the PS3. Might tempt me to get an Xbox, as GT5 was a letdown, mainly due to the staggeringly unfriendly menu system.

Yeah, it was a horrible menu. And the AI was boring, predictable and nearly the same every single time. I found it unbearable. Such as a shame as the driving was fantastic..

Ting blip in the staggering beautiful world of GT. Its still the best driving game available, although GT2 is still my fave, I still have all 5 in mint condition. Awesome games….*turns volume up whilst blasting round gt3 to feeder*

Some of that looks really nice, some of it looks less so, and the rear view mirror is still wrong. Won’t anybody please my pedantic ways!? :P

I nearly bought a 360 for Forza 3. I might not be able to resist this time

I did exactly that for Forza 3 and the Mass Effect games. One of the best gaming decisions I’ve ever made.

Do you play anything else on it, or would it be gathering dust were it not for those two series?
I ask as i have considered it a bit back, but i wouldn’t want forza (prefer ‘arcadey’ racers) & ME is now on PS3, so i think Gears is the only thing that comes to mind that i might actually want.

I only ever played exclusives on it (due to the cost of online play and I prefer the PS3 DualShock controller … and I’m pretty loyal to Sony as a customer since I first bought my original Playstation) such as Gears, Project Gotham Racing, Left 4 Dead, Crackdown and Alan Wake, the rest of the time was spent with XBLA games, specifically Trials HD.
It’s not a purchase I regret in any way, shape or form and they’ve had a re-design and a price drop since then. The only thing that would put me off buying one is a potential announcement of a new Microsoft machine but even then, the 360 has a brilliant back catalogue of exclusives.

Oh yeah, I had completely forgotten about L4D & Crackdown. Still probably not worth a purchase for 3 games though i guess.
Thanks for the response though! :)

It still can’t compare to the mighty Gran Turismo.

In what way?
I really liked GT5, in spite of all the problems everyone had with it (menu, horrible anti-aliasing on shadows and smoke, very poor looking standard cars, tedious AI, etc.) but I can’t see how it’s a better game than Forza 3, never mind the hoped improvements in Forza 4.
Certainly, I would say these screenshots in the Autovista mode are the equal of GT5, if not better and we won’t know much about how it plays until it’s released. Not sure how you can make a statement like that.

/\ this. I love GT5, but even as a GT fanboy, I think Forza is an incredible racing series, just for what it brought to the genre. After Forza 3, I am confident that Forza 4 will only build on the series. However, like cb said, the game isn’t even out yet, so we can’t really make judgements about it.

My flatmate has a 360; I’d buy this in a heartbeat *IF* my DFGT wheel worked with it. Oh well.
