These two releases for iOS are a bit confusing. You see, Capcom already included Final Fight in the Capcom Arcade app, which is free of charge. You can opt to use coins to play each game or you can purchase the entire cabinet. The same thing applies to Street Fighter II. All three games in the collection are available in the Capcom Arcade app.
These games still only have support for local multiplayer, so what gives? I decided to check it out for myself. Final Fight is pretty much identical to the Capcom Arcade version but it does run a bit smoother and has different looking buttons. It doesn’t seem like there are any other differences. This version of Final Fight is normally $2.99 but it’s on sale for $0.99 until September 21st.
The Street Fighter II Collection, which includes SFII, Champion Edition, and Hyper Fighting, runs noticeably better. The new control options are also a nice touch. There are now three Special buttons instead of one, with each Special button dedicated to a weak, medium, and heavy attack. I included a screenshot of the button layout in the gallery below (it’s the one with two Chun-Lis going at it).
You can also have all six attack buttons and all three Special buttons displayed on screen at the same time. The Capcom Arcade app didn’t allow you to display the Special command if you used the traditional six button layout. You can still remove the special button or go back to a four button layout if that’s what you prefer. This collection is priced at $3.99, which is cheaper than buying all three cabinets separately from the Capcom Arcade app.
Capcom also released a free update for Street Fighter IV Volt which includes Fei Long and Yun as playable characters.
