LiveArea For US Vita PSN Store Changed, Opening Soon?

Obviously, when the PS Vita launched in Japan, the Japanese PSN Store opened up alongside it and you could download whatever you liked – as I did, I grabbed Uncharted, Little Deviants, Virtua Tennis 4 and Everybody’s Golf.

However, those that imported or got a Euro model early and wanted to use their UK or US PSN accounts have been left out in the cold – naturally the cart-based games work fine, but you can’t transfer Japanese PSN purchases over, or use the PSN Store, because it simply doesn’t work.

It continues to not open today, too, but it looks like the US PSN Store is changing, with an update to the LiveArea overnight that introduced a few icons for some movies and a button or two for some first party games, including Uncharted.

You can see a screengrab of the LiveArea screen here on Flickr.

Now, this doesn’t automatically mean that the US Store is going to open soon, this might just be SCEA testing things (and in any case, the UK version remains the same as it always has been) but hopefully it could mean that it’s not far away.

Pre-ordered machines will be around a good week before the launch date of the 22nd of February, so that really only leaves two weeks between now and the early adopters.  Please, SCEE, throw open the doors and let us spend some money soon!

  1. I’m willing to bet it will be the maintenance on thursday, it’s a lot longer than normal and I’m guessing they’ll want the new Store to work flawlessly.

  5. I was curious as to why my screen grab of the store had views that spiked overnight :) Yes, I hope that the store opens soon!

  6. Don’t know if this is true, but GAF says you can now activate Jap purchases on Vita’s logged into a UK/US PSN. You download via PS3, then transfer to the UK account before copying it to the Vita itself, logged into your chosen account.
