The EA financial reports have revealed the non too shocking news that Dead Space 3 and yet another Need For Speed game are in production.
Both of the titles are scheduled to hit the shelves before the end of March next year, although the Need for Speed game is aiming at quarter three of FY 2013, so roughly October this year.
EA noted Dead Space among its coming ‘blockbuster’ titles for the year, but provided little info outside the mention.
Dead Space 3 came 7th in our Top 100 of 2012 and a few details have already leaked out.

Hopefully part3 brings back some of the magic from the first game. While I enjoyed part2 it didn’t grip me the same way the original did.

I just hope there is co-op, even if it’s as DLC. I would prefer that than multiplayer personally. Some games just don’t need multiplayer.

Co-op (if handled correctly) would be excellent. That said its hard to get that helpless, imersive feeling when playing alongside someone. We shall see :)

Indeed, that’s why I thought DLC might be good for co-op as it’s generally a solo game.

I think the best possible way to implement co-op in a game like Dead Space AND keep the suspense would be to have both players wandering around in different parts of the ship/station at the same time. Say, one of you goes to get the reactor core up and running and the other has to go re-boot the computer mainframe you could still be chatting away but still feel isolated. Imagine one player has to navigate a near pitch-black section whilst the other has to watch a CCTV monitor in the security booth and *describe* what’s creeping up behind them…

Indeed, yet you can still have the freedom to choose who goes which way, and maybe swap and share nodes/guns, depending on who is taking the toughest path!

yeahh and it has in game chat, so the connection between the player fades away (on purpose) and then reappears later in the game!

I’ve not tried the challenges yet, working my way through 5-staring all the levels.
Sadly there is no option to play co-op online (as far as I’m aware). It’s much easier 2-player though as it makes it easier to grab items etc when there’s two of you!

Really loved Dead Space, DS2 didn’t grab me so much, really wish Visceral would do a new IP or a Dante’s2.
Wonder how much of the creativity at Visceral left when the head honchos set up Sledgehammer after DS1 was released & a good chunk of Dante’s was developed.

Dead space was Alien and DS2, Aliens.
Hopefully DS3 won’t be Alien3 D:
