Monolith Working On “Guardians Of Middle Earth”

Warner Bros. Interactive has announced its next video game in the Lord of the Rings universe titled Guardians of Middle Earth, a MOBA exclusive to PSN and XBLA. Developed by Monolith Productions (F.E.A.R, Gotham City Impostors) this latest addition to the franchise will launch this Autumn, leading up to the cinematic release of The Hobbit.

In Guardians of Middle Earth, 10 players go head to head on two five-a-side teams, each one a combination of heroes and villains torn form the pages of Tolkein’s fantasy classics. There will be 20 in total (at launch) including the likes of Gandalf, Gollum, and even Sauron.

Whether or not the game will be DOTA-inspired remains yet to be seen, the press release suggesting a mainly arena-based, PvP style of MOBA such as BioWare’s Wrath of Heroes. All we know is that Guardians of Middle Earth launches later this year for £11.99/1200MSP.
