Half Life 2: Episode 3 Concept Art Appears, Possibly From 2008

I’m doing my best not to get too excited but it’s not easy. Anything to do with a potential further instalment to what is probably the best FPS ever crafted tends to make me a little excitable. But Half Life fans have been burned before and we’re now fairly resilient to the pressures of raised expectations concerning the series’ long overdue return.

These images have been posted by ValveTime.net. They don’t divulge the source of the images but they do promise, categorically that they are legitimate, official concept art drawn up by artists at Valve. It’s also worth noting that ValveTime.net is currently down, presumably under server load and they posted these images to their Facebook page rather than a one-per-page gallery like some sites would so it’s impossible to accuse them of trolling for hits. If they are legitimate, they’re probably from 2008 and probably the beautiful work of Valve artist, Andrea Wicklund.

If you look closely, you’ll see Alyx wearing some of her father’s clothes. There’s also a downed helicopter and some quite Combine-looking creatures to add a little weight to the story.

  3. Hmm, the crashed helicopter implies that they may have got caught in a portal storm. I want to believe that Valve are working on HL2:3 but i suspect they are having trouble counting to 3. Rumour has it that they have just learn to count up to 2.5. :O

    Actually, i wonder if they have ditched Half Life 2:episode 3 and instead have decide to use the plot from episode 3 for HL3 and are currently working on it for the PS4/Xbox 720? Or it’s all a lie. :S

  4. HL2 and the episodes are still really playable games today but another installment would be awesome! I hope Valve are working on it.

  5. keep meaning to fire up the Orange Box and finally complete all of HL2

    • I’m slowly plugging way at my 360’s orange box. Ive finished all of them on the PC mind so i’m in no hurry.
