Variety is reporting that Michael Fassbender, probably most recently remembered as the best thing about Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, is set to co-produce an Assassin’s Creed movie.
The project had been underway at Sony’s movie studios but work has halted there and now Ubisoft Motion Pictures has teamed up with Fassbender’s DMC Film company to put together a production package before re-approaching major studios for financing. Ubisoft Motion Pictures has said that whatever path the movie takes, they’ll try to limit their financial involvement – which is smart.
This means that Ubisoft will maintain creative control and Fassbender will likely star as the protagonist. It’s unknown whether the movie plots will follow those of the games so far or whether we’ll see a further spin off but assumptions seem to be that these films are planned around Desmond, Altair and Ezio – so far.

I really like Fassbender, was great in Inglorious Basterds and X-men: First Class. This sounds like it could be good!

I hope they won’t ditch the historical setting of AC and decide to set it in modern day then change the lead to a sexy female who can’t act and have a ton of explosions, followed by slow motion and bullets and i’ve just described Micheal Bay’s films haven’t i?
I think they will focus on another Assassain without the animus as the animus fits into the AC games but would seem cheesy in a film. Oh and KEEP MICHEAL BAY AND UWE VIDEO GAME REAPER BOLL AWAY FROM THIS!

Hopefully this movie becomes successful, because if it does, I can see it becoming ultra-hyped, there’s plenty of potential within this franchise in my eyes.
