Sleeping Dogs Out Next Week – Launch Trailer Rolls In

As long as we get there… fast! It’s cheesy, but in the context of a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously it’s perfectly pitched.

We’ve been playing Sleeping Dogs for a bit – review soon – and the United Front Games developed third person action game looks like filling the release schedule gap nicely.

Set in the city of Hong Kong, players take on the role of undercover cop Wei Shen with the ultimate goal being to take down a deadly crime organisation from the inside.

  1. Looks brilliant and much better than GTA and Saints Row. Hoping this drops in price quickly so I can pick it up :D

    • Dunno about being better than Saints Row, as that was actually a breath of fresh air for me after GTA (as unlike GTA it didn’t take itself too seriously), but i am seriously looking forward to this game!

Was tempted to pop a pre-order on in fact, but i have Lego Batman 2 sat at home waiting to be traded, so that will go against some of the value of this purchase methinks. :)

    • better than GTA crazy talk :)

  2. No sure about this one. City, driving physics & sound, seem alot like Just Cause 2. Which isn’t a terrible thing, but not how I remember True Crime. 50/50 on a purchase, hmm.

    • Ahh wth, i’ll take the risk. Never could resist an open world game.

  3. It doesn’t look too bad tbh. The combat looks just right, shooting looks a bit cheesy, driving looks a little stiff, plot looks decent. I’m expecting a 7/ 7.5…which isn’t a bad score. Might even see a couple 8’s.

Square Enix did good picking this up after Activision dropped it. I hoping it sells well.

    • Yeh i’m not expecting much from the driving, but CQC may be setting a bar in the genre & if the story holds up, that’ll do nicely. A good selection of music tracks helps out too.
At least this has a story unlike SR3, luckily the fun to be had makes up for it.

    • “Enix did good…”
Indeed, if I had the money & resources, i’d have pounced on that.

  4. Great choice of music. I’m sold.

  5. That was a very well made trailer and has me definetly has me pumped for the game. It felt like i was watching a trailer to a hardboiled film, it looks super cool, lets hope it plays super cool too.

  6. This game is actually looking pretty solid, and has certainly piqued my interest. Seen a few vids of it recently and it does look like it could very well be a hit.
It’s a heck of a different direction to take though for United Front Games from the Modnation Racers and LBP Karting games to an open world action game, but they might very well have pulled it off here.
This has certainly come out from below the radar to a highly likely pre-order for next weeks release date, especially with it’s reasonable pricing too!
