Ah, the old “unnamed source”. We’ve been expecting you. Come in, sit down. Kick off your shoes, take a biscuit and dribble some totally unsupported nonsense in our direction.
This time, it’s reports from a website called Se7ensins that claim, amidst barely legible English, to have a top secret undercover source in Neversoft. That studio, you might remember, has already been mentioned as a support studio on the Call of Duty franchise. Well, it seems like they’re being trusted with the Modern Warfare brand and actually developing the whole thing, if our friendly leak is to be believed.
The mysterious source says “It’s another MW game. There’s something called, ‘Drone Survaillance’. They’re working on ‘HALO’ jumps (High Altitude; Low X.) There is a level under ice. There is cloaking tech. Somethin called a ‘Dominator UAV’.” All of which sounds very plausible, if totally without evidence. Also, and beware of this massive spoiler, I’m not sure there was much room for a sequel left at the end of Modern Warfare 3, was there?
So, Modern Warfare 4 with plenty of Ghost Recon Future Soldier mixed in, UAVs and an under-ice section. What do you think?
McProley
Plausible, yet very unplausible. Goddamnit, you’ve confused me now
mcphatty
I wonder if any of us could come up with some totally plausible rumors? I’ll try: Modern Warfare 4 will feature govornment conspi… conspira… co… cottage cheese, which will implicate food manufacturers in a bid for world domination. Bollocks, not as easy as I thought, probably to be filed under unplausible :)
bunimomike
It’s not too implausible. Hell… look at how Activision is trying to reinvigorate things already. Just hope they know what they’re doing (for the game as oppose to the masses). :-0

I loved the first MW for bringing the FPS genre in to the modern age and away from WW2, at the time is was a huge breath of fresh air. I feel however, that the series has just gone from the down to earth feel of MW1 to something altogether crazy with wild kill streaks, calling in nukes, controlling air drones and now the latest version to be released looks like making use of even more extravagant tools. All this without any significant update to the core engine and the game just looks rather silly to me.
Give me back the raw and stripped down feel of the original MW, but in an updated engine and I’ll be one of the first in the queue.
McProley
Couldn’t agree more with you.
Youles
I liked the first 2 MW games, although the killstreaks could have been toned down a little in MW2. In MW3 the killstreaks are altogether pointless though – you get little reward for a 15 killstreak as they are taken down within seconds, so there is nothing to work towards since people don’t use teamwork to win the objectives. Anyway, something between MW1 and MW2 with a much upgraded engine would be great, and without all this futuristic nonsense. I don’t want Future Warfare, Modern is just fine, thanks. If it goes to Futuristic I won’t be buying MW4.
McProley
But then it wouldn’t be “Modern” Warfare 4 if it goes all futuristic, surely?
Youles
Well it’s a brand so I doubt they’d change the name, but they could still change the setting/features. And they can always come up with stories such as “this piece of equipment was being secretly developed and is years ahead of the current technology” such as flying cars or laser rifles. Fail.
McProley
Flying cars FTW! Modern Warfare 4: Bladerunner
gazzagb
Gah, I hate futuristic warfare, hope this is untrue, although as you say, MW3 wrapped everything up nicely.
YOURMUMANDME
I’m certain that they will stray from the Modern Warfare title next year, to what I don’t know……..in fact I’ll start my own rumour.
I heard someone from Blizzard say it was gonna be called Call of Duty: Whirlygig.

Neversoft? Will the next MW game be a Tony Hawk crossover?
Bilbo_bobbins
Not being funny, but I could easily say that a friend of mines dogs/dads/brothers/son works for Neversoft and has lots to say about it. But I wont, because I would be talking shit, a bit like this bollocks of an article.
Keep this crap off of TSA, we want decent articles not stupid rumours from nobodies. Its the reason I visit TSA.
Bilbo_bobbins
ok sorry Peter, I might have been a bit harsh. I just sick of reading so many rumour articles on COD that are just ridiculous. Fair enough if its a decent leak, but this is far off.

That site is full of hackers and modders and other sorts of mischieve. However, they do seem to get correct information from what i’ve seen. They new about some new FIFA 11 additions before anybody new as I recall and some of the dudes on there claim to have worked at Rockstar. I wouldn’t be amazed if they had some sort of information on MW4, based on previous experience of the site.

Really TSA? Who decided this was worth posting?
