New ZombiU Trailer Explains Perma-Deaths

Ubisoft’s support for new console launches has been something special in recent years and the Wii U is set to carry on that tradition. The Wii U seems like its going to attempt to woo more traditional gamers, looking for a “core” experience and ZombiU certainly ticks a lot of boxes that should appeal to them (us!).

This new video takes a look at how they steered the game towards a mature, experienced audience rather than the family friendly stuff that Nintendo consoles have perhaps become best known for. The game will feature permanent deaths – once you die as a character, you’ll only see them again through the eyes of a different character as a zombie.

It’s shaping up to be something very interesting indeed.

  1. I really like the look and premise of this, especially the Dark Souls style death and retrieval system. Honestly though, the WiiU part just puts me off. Apart from the lock picking system, which looks to add some tension, the rest seems a bit pointless at best and a hindrance at worst. The motion controls especially, waving around a big slab, look unnatural. At least with the Wiimote you could almost envisage a sword or club etc, but unless you are beating a zombie to death with a tea tray the WiiU controller looks totally ungainly.

  2. This looks really good. Love the Buckingham Palace setting too with the Guard as a zombie lol

  3. I don’t think i could play that,it looks far too scary for a coward like me.

  4. The game looks quite interesting… but the wiiu… i dont know… how is waggling a big controller, held in both hands, better than waggling with only one hand? now there is not even the immersion factor… when he attacks with that axe, a wii controller or the move would feel more natural, like holding the handle of an axe, but instead you probably feel like you are trying to kill the zombie with an ipad… :)

  5. I really want this game. Survival horror is easily my favourite genre of games. Shame its an exclusive but I can see why given all the touchpad stuff :(

  6. ohh this looks quite good…i hope someone in my family buys a WiiU now

    • Yeah i’m the same, I don’t think i’d ever buy a Wii or a WiiU but i’ll give it a go if somebody less of a ‘hardcore’ gamer in my fam gets it :P
