SCEE Advertising PlayStation Plus For Just £22.49

[drop2]Sony Europe are advertising PlayStation Plus on the Store for just £22.49.

The price, as seen in the image on the right, shows the currently generously discounted annual Plus subscription down from its already discounted price by a further 25%.

Just a heads-up: this is clearly a mistake by whoever did the artwork for the Store imagery 0 and whoever signed it off – PS Plus for a year should be £29.99, and that’s what you’ll pay if you buy it just now.

Plus opens up stacks of games for free (including some great titles), offers automatic patching and a rack of cloud storage for your saves – and is currently on sale, but not for £22.49, that would be crazy.

  1. Am I the only one getting annoyed with that message saying 25% discount scrolling on the corner were it shows how many friends online

    • No, me too. Can’t seem to switch it off, so I’ve switched my PS3 off instead.

      • Me too even when I wasn’t signed in, same for my dad who hasn’t updated his ps3 for a year. It’s a step too far, pushing advertising on us, I also turned my ps3 off.
        Have they done it before?

      • That ‘ticker’ only seemed to work on my US account., I didnt think it worked at all on my original ac

      • They have had that sort of ticket a long time for the US users. Nothing that really bothers me.

      • We’ve had the ticker too, but I disabled it… but this message has over-ridden my setting

      • You used to be able to “disable” it by manually changing the year a few years ahead on the PS3 date settings. although doing this will cause some things in the web browser to not function properly. because I use my PS3 browser alot I had to go back to the correct date and that’s why I’m not sure if the exploit still works

    • That’s been there for a few years, since we got that bar, SCEE just never used it, SCEA however, did.

      • Maybe this is what we get for complaining that we get treated differently than the US! :-)

    • I sorta noticed there was a rolling ticker in the corner when i glanced up at the corner while signing-in, but actually didn’t pay it any heed. Now it’s been brought to my attention it is a little jarring but not too invasive imo.

    • Me too. SCEA has had it for ages and ages. SCEE seems to have turned it on (ooer) to promote the PS+ discount. Hopefully they turn it off again after.

    • Not noticed this, but I bet it’ll really annoy me now it’s been pointed out!

    • You can get this for £25 buy using code SEFIVEOFF at Sainsburys. This gives you £5 off a £25 card, meaning you only need to top up another fiver to get a years subscription for £25!

  3. Looks like they might have intended to do a super-dooper discount for existing plus customers. Shame they didn’t really :-(

    • Would have been the reason for me to renew.

  4. Yeah I saw the scroll bar, doesn’t bother me. At least it’s not that intrusive.

  5. This would be a good idea actually. Try and get people who are already subscribed to extend their subscription.

    • So can you not do that already then? I mean, if you were an existing subscriber and bought the year subscription at the sale price, wouldn’t it just run from when your current sub ended?

  6. At least Sony’s advertising is their own products unlike a certain other console manufacturer putting adverts on my menu that have sound!! Ugh.

  7. They used to have the information board scrolling last with interesting news which I did like, but they got rid of that and put in What’s New along with the the status bar.
    Although SCEA have used it for a whole I thought the Info Board was better because u could select it if something interesting popped up and it would take u straight to it!

    • Same in the Swedish shop as well.
      Plus they have an advertisement for Ratchet & Clank Q-Force, download now it says, Free / 0:00kr.
