XCOM: Enemy Unknown Gameplay and Multiplayer

Last week in Seattle, PAX 2012 came to an end and the gameplay videos from developer sessions and the showfloor have started leaking out.

First up is a chance to see Firaxis lead designer, Jake Solomon, taking a squad of rookies through their paces. As you can see they’re massively out of their depth and taking a beating, until the last soldier standing radios in for backup.

Secondly Jake Solomon takes on a fan plucked from the show floor to go head-to-head showing off one of the title’s multiplayer modes.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is out on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC from October 9th-12th, so get saving!

  1. Not going to be playing multiplayer on this as I already have enough to play, but it looks awesome and I can’t wait to try the campaign out.

That first trailer completely sold it to me.

    • I agree, it’s the game I’m most looking forward to this year.

    • I’ll probably play the mp at least once just to see what it’s like.

  2. Pre-ordered this on steam, it just looks amazing in every aspect of its gameplay.

  3. Is this Turn based strat or RTS?

    • Turn based.

      • Ah brilliant then i’ll get on ps3.

If it was RTS I would have tried to make my 5 year old PC run it lol

  4. Loved this on the Amiga and PC. Will it still have that charm :-/

  5. Very excited for this. Been playing through the original thanks to DOSBox, hope that Firaxis can capture the tension that made the first game so good.

  6. Even taking into account the update it seems quite a different game to the original but i’m looking forward to it.

  7. I’m with Star on this one. This is the game I have most been looking forawrd to this year. I first caught wind of it back in January and the wait has been painful. Less than a month to go and I can’t wait.

Just hope Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2 can take my mind off it for long enough :P
