WipEout Is Alive

Hurrah!

Well this is good, if slightly confusing news.

Sony recently shut down its Liverpool studios, the home of WipeEout. They said that wherever possible the staff would be relocated.

It was assumed that the team were working on a WipEout game for the PS4.

Today the official WipEout 2048 Twitter feed tweeted ‘WE. ARE. ALIVE’ and the picture above.

Sony have declined to comment but it appears that although Studio Liverpool has gone, a new WipEout team has been formed elsewhere.

Best news of the day? Yup.

    Evolution Studios to the rescue.

There was a certain Ms. @AmiNakajima was spotted at Evolution Studios last week, after all…

Yeah, they did say as many employees as possible would be moved to other studios and it would be no surprise if most of them, and the IP, ended up there!

Well this is a bit of a surprise to me. Years ago they were gonna merge Liverpool and evolution, but I guess shutting down liverpool is now in effect the same thing. Just seems silly to not state it being a merger instead in the beginning

I for one am glad, Wipeout HD is still one of the best games on PS3. Pleased for the devs too. The future is bright again.

Don’t think that adds further credibility seeing as she controls both accounts though, doesn’t she?

If true then this is fantastic news. I love WipEout and it is a staple of the PS brand, so a PS4 WipEout would be divine <3

This was all just marketing for the Zombie DLC (remember that?) they’re going to release for WipEout 2048.

It sounded like a good extra mode for those who love playing Wipeout.

I agree. I liked the idea of that mode. People were just complaining because they were tired of the word Zombie due to all the Zombie-related games and DLCs that flooded the market.
