So who’s had the most snow this past week? I have myself a fairly light layer of snow here, and luckily it’s stuck around a little while, but it’s not really much to shout about yet.
Here’s hoping for more heavenly dandruff in the next couple of days, eh?
This week, after I went round bugging a whole host of people for photos, it was everyone’s favourite Colinbarr who stepped into the ring to share his gaming set up. I’ll hand over to him to explain better than I ever could:
My main setup consists of a 120GB PS3 and a 60GB Xbox 360 connected to a 42″ LG LCD TV, although most of my gaming occurs on the PlayStation 3 so the 360 has become more of a display piece than an actual gaming console, as has most of my hardware. Over the years I’ve had many consoles bought for me or by myself so my collection now includes an Atari 2600, Nintendo Gameboy, DS, SNES, Wii, PS1, PS2, PSP and PS Vita, all of which are either resting in a box or drawer or completely lost at this point.
I keep the games for older consoles separate from the ones I currently use, so pictured is my main collection of PS3 games, with a few others below it. I’ve given up trading in and selling games so my shelving unit is getting full fast and I prefer to have a selection of games to stare at before picking FIFA 13 to play.
I love collectors editions and my current favourite is the Helghast Edition of Killzone 3, which came with a bust of a Helghast Soldier’s helmet and a nice figure of the Sniper soldier. Recently I’ve been picking up these editions quite cheap and a few of my purchases have been Driver San Francisco’s model car, Metal Gear Solid HD with an art book and t-shirt and WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 which came with a miniature wrestling ring. Most of these limited editions are massively overpriced at launch so I often leave them but whenever I see one cheap, I can’t resist.
The majority of my available shelving space is now taken up by some piece of gaming merchandise, so it would be fair to say I’m a hoarder of anything video game related. I’ve had fancy ornaments on display in the past but I’d much rather have a Sackboy figure in their place, things are much more fun that way.
Lovely collection you have there.

In many ways this is quite a subdued section this week. There are lots of people plugging away slowly but surely at games which they’re playing. For some like Flexxible, that still means earning a whole bunch of trophies, with the fastest platinum for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 under his belt alongside a slower Shadow of the Colossus and Modern Warfare 3 run. Of course, he’s still working on Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive 5 and plenty others in his library. The man’s a machine!
Also earning a fastest is Crazy_Del with Goldeneye, whilst Wilboss thumbs through his previous times to claim Band Hero, Game of Thrones, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, London 2012 and TV Superstars! Boom!
Elsewhere, LTG Davey’s been playing the newer releases of Anarchy Reigns and DmC, giving both a good thumbs up after plenty of play time. Kjkg has similarly completed his Dishonored play through, but plans on taking a little break before going after the final trophies. Good luck with the High Chaos play, which I hear can make the end game quite a bit trickier.
B_Cambo has himself the platinum for PSAS:BR, thoroughly enjoying it, but missing some of the older classic characters like Crash Bandicoot and Lara Croft. Whilst R1MJAW makes his appearance in this segment by helping another, OnlineAssassin, to his own Far Cry 3 platinum in co-op, amongst his jam packed schedule of meets.
I’ll round us off this week with tales from my own gaming. The last couple weeks I’ve been playing Dead Island with AG2297 and Bunimomike, having a thoroughly good time of it. We finally got to the last area, the prison, and ploughed through it on Friday evening. Getting to the final boss, which I’ll not spoil for anyone, we’re all prepped for an utterly titanic battle, with AG and myself quickly swatted away.
In jumps Mike, playing as Sam B, and simply knocks the boss flying 20-30 metres away, in a little cloud of electricity! We all hare after him, fully expecting the battle to resume as soon as he stands up again, but all we get is an ending cutscene. Mike just killed the final boss in a single hit!
We were, of course, wetting ourselves laughing at all of this.
That’s almost all you get this week. You can head over to page two for the fastest platinum leaderboards, but to finish off this page, we have the usual submission form for photos and accomplishments. Please don’t be shy about it!
