Sony have this evening confirmed to TheSixthAxis that The Last of Us has indeed been delayed, and will now launch worldwide on 14th June 2013. We reported that there were signs that the game had been pushed back earlier in the week, and were awaiting confirmation from the publisher before publishing any further rumours on the matter.
We got that confirmation through an hour or so ago.
“As a team we pride ourselves on setting a very high quality bar for every aspect of our games – gameplay, story, art, design, technology and more,” said a statement from Naughty Dog, the developers of the game. “We want to make sure The Last of Us raises that bar even further – for ourselves, and most importantly, our fans.”
“As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realise just how massive Joel and Ellie’s journey is. But instead of cutting corners or compromising our vision, we came to the tough decision that the game deserved a few extra weeks to ensure every detail of The Last of Us was up to Naughty Dog’s internal high standards.”
We’ll hopefully have hands on with the game soon enough.

Too bad, but i guess it’s for the better. I wonder if this will affect Beyond’s release date.

Well, considering all of my exams are at the end of May, I can’t say I’m too upset by this. Just means I can spend more time devoting myself to what looks like another Naughty Dog masterpiece!

I wonder why producer companies make these stupid excuses instead of saying “we couldn’t make it” honestly.
Avenger
Well that would probably be bad PR.

I won’t be expecting a day one patch in that case. :)
Foxhound_Solid
No worries :-)

I’m actually not fussed by this at all. Gives me some extra time to save some pennies and also means I can finish with the current games I’m playing before I move onto this masterpiece. :)
Erroneus
Is alright. One more trailer for Sony to show at E3.

Fine by me, I’d rather wait because you know ND will deliver.

I’d rather wait for a game to be fully finished than get it early but full of bugs.
There seems to be less bugged games released now than there was a year or two ago.

Hmm, that’s a different attitude to what everyone had over Gt5…
Oh yes, Microsoft are too busy with the new Xbox to whip up internet PS3 hate..
sabbat7001
I feel the exact same way. ND have earned my trust to deliver a deep cinematic experience combined with great fun and exciting game play. Besides, it’s not like it’s been delayed 6+ months like some games in the past. It’s a little over a month. I think we can survive. ;o)
xdarkmagician
part of me thinks this is more about E3 than adding that extra polishing.

This doesn’t bother me at all, im actually gald for two reasons:
1.My wallet cant handle so many good games coming out at once
2. Naughty Dog are not going to release a broken game. Unlike some other developers!
