Flashback Getting HD Update

We’ll save the details for our preview later (we’ve seen it, and it’s lovely) – until then, bask in the glow of a surprise HD update from Ubisoft: classic 2D platformer Flashback is getting a current-gen update, and it’s looking great.

The game has been updated by its original creator and now runs in 3D, thanks to Unreal.

Full details on TSA soon.

  1. Total recall, 6th day?

Never heard of it but looks cool, the dude kinda looks like drake

    • Never heard of Flashback? Damn you young’uns. ;)

To be honest I’m less excited about this since seeing the trailer, I think I may just hold on to my happy memories.

  2. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  3. I used to have this on my Sega Megadrive, one of the best platform games of it’s generation.

    • I still have the original ROM ;-)

    • I still have my megadrive and mega cd hooked to the tv :)

great game but not sure about the remake

  4. cool, i loved the game first time round, it won’t have the wow factor the rotoscoped animation did back in the day, but the gameplay was solid.

they’ve done a good job of updating it.

i still want to get my hands on a copy of the mega cd version.

i wonder if this version will still have the run through walls glitch. ^_^

  5. I’ve never heard of this but the gameplay reminds me of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee / Exodus, which is a good thing.

  6. Looks good although the fluid animation which made the original stand out won’t have quite the same impact this time around.

  7. I play the original Flashback roughly once a year since it came out. Even though it’s very old fashioned in its controls, it’s still brilliant. Even if this is just a prettier version of that, I’m happy enough. If they can update the gameplay a little bit then hopefully that’s even better!

    • Christ! Now that’s commitment. I remember it vaguely but I do recall the fun I had with it.

      Count me in. :-)

  8. I’m excited for this!!

  9. Funnily enough I actually started a playthrough of the original last night :-)

  10. The logo looks incredibly similar to that of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Thought I’d point that out.
