PS Vita Updated To 2.12, Improves “System Software Stability” – Again

Has it ever had an update to improve this exciting feature before? Let's have a look.

The PlayStation Vita was updated overnight – or at least its system software was – to version 2.12. The exciting new feature? An improvement to System Software Stability.

It’s optional, so changes are it’s not that crucial, and probably just manages to tweak the odd game here and there.

Which game? We don’t know. Sony haven’t said. As usual.

As usual? They’ve done this before? Yes. Let’s see how many times the PS Vita has been updated for this exact same, vague reason.

  • 1.52 – January 16, 2012 – Improved system stability (and a SIM card bug fix)
  • 1.69 – June 11, 2012 – Improved system stability (and one obscure Japanese game)
  • 1.81 – September 17, 2012 – Improved system stability (and fixed a hack with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite)
  • 2.01 – December 3, 2012 – Improved system stability (and a PS Plus bug)
  • 2.02 – December 19, 2012 – Improved system stability
  • 2.05 – January 24, 2013 – Improved system stability (and the UNO hack)
  • 2.06 – March 12, 2013 – Improved system stability (and two more hacks)
  • 2.11 – April 16, 2013 – Improved system stability
  • 2.12 – May 8, 2013 – Improved system stability

Great stuff. That thing must be pretty stable now.

  1. Maybe it’s stability for some feature we don’t usually use… (I only play games on it).

    • People have said the same things about smartphones :P

  2. Lol that thing must be stable now

  3. Not really. Instability can come with any fulfilled software update. Every time they update to a x.10 for main features there are bound to be small little x.x1 updates to ensure whatever they added is stable.

  4. You can have an update which lets face it, is a fricking first world problem to bitch about – it doesnt cost anything, it barely takes two seconds of your time and its optional – or you can have a PS Vita which doesnt work quite as well.

    Ridiculous thing to moan about.

  5. Ohh ta will update the firmware before plying Fifa. Very sneaky Sony xD

  6. I think it a lot of these updates affect Japanese releases when it’s not combating pirates.

  7. If it helps beat Johnny Depp and his pals then it’s all for the best.

  8. Looks like it has fixed some store downloads problems, people were having.
