It Looks Like The PS4 Price Just Got Outed By Mistake

Thank you, PlayStation India. According to several reports, including one from a Spanish site and one from German site, the Indian Sony site briefly listed a page for PlayStation 4 that included a model (250GB hdd) and a price.

That price was €399 which would probably mean a $400 price tag in the US and around £350 here in the UK. That’s for what we assume would be the basic model, with the smallest hard drive size. Expect a higher price for a larger hard disk, that fancy new PSEye camera array and perhaps a Move controller bundled in with it. Perhaps we’ll also see a nice PS4 and Vita bundle, too.

The page has since been removed but there are enough corroborating reports to indicate there’s some truth to this (although screengrabs next time, gents!)

So, what do we think? Sounds fair enough to me.

Thanks, GAF

  1. I never understand why everyone complains so much about consoles costing around £400 at release. My Amiga 500+ was £600 in 1991!

  2. If it’s around the 400 quid mark then that’s OK with me.

  3. Want to see the price wars begin. As usual think i will go top end and get the best yet most expensive possible. Maybe even a vita bundle if one shows up. Its a big investment. Not like your £400 phone that becomes outdated in less than 2 years.

  4. Was hoping for £300-350, but even at £400, I know i’ll lack the strength to resist.
500gb drive is the min i’ll need, after maxing out my current 250gb, with little content to show for it. Ideally, i’d really like a TB, especially if digital prices start to reflect the high street.

Am I right to assume, that a 2.5″ western digital, will be ok for the PS4?(do drive sizes change for new consoles ever?) If it is ok, I can start shopping right away, desperate for space on my PS3.

  5. That HDD is way too small. 1tb should be the minimum any new console ships, with! Price seems about right, but I’m gonna assume that each console will be packed with the new camera, so everyone is starting tech wise on the same page? Makes it easier for debs that way??
