Update: EA have let us know that the only dates announced are for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions, and that the date is the 1st of November. “Battlefield 4 will also be available for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4” says the publisher.
Before we let our excitement run away with us, this might simply be an error in phrasing. So, take a deep breath and try not to assume too much. That said, it certainly looks like Battlefield 4’s Battlelog website has narrowed down the release window for both the unreleased consoles.
It says, right there on Battlelog, that “Battlefield 4 will be available 10/29/2013 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.”
That’s explicit statement that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will be available on the 29th October 2013. So the consoles must be out by then, right?
Now, as we cautioned, this might just be a case of someone throwing in the new consoles with the list of other platforms and not thinking about changing the date. But it might not.
There’s also a product page for Battlefield 4 that’s gone live with what we assume is an early mock up of what the PS4 boxes will look like. That page, too, refers to the PS4 version being available on October 29th.

Nice. Is that a BF4 NA or worldwide release? They tend to be worldwide, don’t they?
As much as the PS4 interests me though, I couldn’t see me picking it up on launch day…or even within the first 6 months really. I’ve got quite a backlog of PS3 games to play and that doesn’t even include upcoming The Last of Us and GT6.
Still, it would be great for Sony to get it out worldwide before this Xmas in all regions.

I’ve got a ridiculous backlog as well, but I’m at the point were it can’t get much worse anyway so I’m buying a PS4 day one.

Hopefully they’re not too far off the mark with this – just enough space before Christmas for it to not completely cripple the finances due to pressie purchases.
