  1. The 2DS is exactly what my brother should have bought for his two kids aged 7 and 3 – not the ipad mini which they stood on and smashed three days later! (although thankfully it still works)
Mind you, i’m not sure what they would think of those tiny screens now they’ve gotten used to the ipad mini and it’s simple touch-screen input. Watching my three year old nephew breeze through Temple Run made me realise how accessible touch-input makes things for kids – but i still want them to learn buttons and sticks at some point.
Only sticking point for me now is the price – because i think it looks too toy-like, but i thnk many parents will be pleased that it’s a cheaper option if they are buying new and i expect the 2DS will sell quite well this xmas.

  2. Still not sure about this one, but agree wholeheartedly with most of what people are saying.

Really hope Ninty get some high-visibility bundles on the shelves this Christmas with “3DS” games in the 2DS box, it’ll really help to alleviate buyer confusion. Bundle the 3DS-titled games so it’s instantly obvious to new buyers which games work and which don’t – even Mario 3D Land with its questionable puzzles would be a good pack-in choice so Mum knows little Jimmy’s new machine plays “3D” games.
