Alongside our preview of Lego Marvel Super Heroes, we had the chance to sit down and talk with Arthur Parsons, Game Director on the title. You can read what I found to be quite an entertaining chat at 4PM, but since he unintentionally teased and hinted at future announcements, I felt like passing those along.
However, we start off with news from New York Comic Con, which saw the announcement that a demo for Lego Marvel Super Heroes would be coming out this week for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. This in addition to confirming a whole host of additional characters, of which there are too many for me to try listing, but includes a bundle of characters for pre-ordering the game, and an Asgard Character Pack as DLC, as reported at ComicBookMovie.
Back to our interview, and when discussing the upcoming PS4 release of the game, Arthur Parsons shied away from specifics, but did say:
There are also some bits and pieces that have been put in there that are just a little bit slicker and shinier, that are all part of the PS4 really, with the whole sort of Sharing. There will be something with the PS4 version that’s being run, that Sony haven’t announced yet, but it’s all very exciting for when the PS4 comes out. So there are some exciting things happening.
Additionally, after checking whether he was allowed to talk about something related to the PS Vita game, Lego Marvel Super Heroes: Universe In Peril, he also had the delightfully vague revelations that:
So there’s a thing that’s going to happen. [laughs]
The console PlayStation versions have something that’s unique for them.
He wasn’t really allowed to discuss these details at that point. Sadly there’s no more context, but these are certainly intriguing little secrets, which could be hinting at cross-platform functionality, game bundles and even an expansion of the scope of Sony’s PS4 £10 upgrade offer.
Either way, we’ve followed up with Warner Bros. about this, but they’re keeping these secrets to themselves for now.
As an aside, I have noticed that the PS Vita is sponsoring Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Channel 4. The 15 second version of the ident features a PS Vita playing Universe In Peril, and can be seen as part of Picture Production Company’s portfolio by following this link… or, you know, by watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
