Microsoft has postponed plans to allow Xbox One owners to identify themselves by their real names on their Xbox Onesies (that’s the official term for multiple consoles, as decreed by me).
“While real identities continue to be part of our plans for the experience on Xbox One, at launch, customers will continue to search for friends using their Gamertags,” explained a Microsoft rep, “Our teams are working hard to deliver a quality experience for Xbox One. This means prioritizing some features and sometimes postponing others for a later update.”
It has also been revealed that Machinima will take their existing relationship with Xbox “to the next level” on Xbox One, not with quick fumble behind the bike sheds, but with a dedicated app for the console.
Utter the phrase “Xbox, Snap Machinima” while playing a game and Machinima will launch on the right side of the TV screen and show you videos related to the game you are playing, including walk-throughs, reviews and help videos.
For a select number of Xbox One titles there will also be an “enhanced Snap experience” known as “Machinima Wingman,” which will provide custom-created and exclusive videos.
You can read more about the Machinima app here, but please be warned they use the word “experience” no less than thirteen times.

I’m OK with this mainly because I don’t want my real name on my Xbox One anyway. Ever.

Not now, Later!
That should be their advertising campaigns for both Sony and Microsoft.

I can’t really think of anyone who would want their real name tied to their account, if you know the person IRL, then just tell them your gamer tag.

Does it really matter if you have real names or not?

Another Built for the future” ‘feature’. I refer my learned friends to the comment I posted yesterday on the “Built for the future” article…
“Built for the future? I’ve just run that phrase through my patented ‘Marketing BS Translator’ and the translation is “It’s not finished yet”.”
