The U.S. PlayStation Blog has posted a question and answer session with Killzone Shadow Fall with Game Director, Steven Ter Heide.
He revealed that the campaign “should last well over 10 hours for most gamers”, and suggested that the game is the ideal entry point to the franchise.
“In many ways, Killzone Shadow Fall is a fresh start for the franchise — the game takes place some thirty years after the original Killzone trilogy, so most of the characters and story arcs from those games have passed into history,” he said. “And while die-hard fans will appreciate the nods to earlier Killzone titles, no knowledge of the Killzone universe is required to get into the story.”
He also confirmed that there is no split screen mode and no co-op campaign, although there are plans to release a separate Online “Co-op Expansion Pack” with a new game mode “in which up to four players take on hordes of enemies in special arena maps.”
He also confirmed that vehicles will not be present in the co-op games and that dedicated servers will be used, but sadly there are “no plans for connectivity between Killzone: Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall.”
Footage of Killzone Shadow Fall from the Tokyo Game Show has also been released, you can view it above and try and spot some Grumpy Cats.

It’s a real shame there’s no split-screen, however for a launch title it’s looking great, I can’t wait to get stuck in on the 29th.

Ten hours sounds around the same as the previous games – and it’ll probably take me a few additional hours to get through it so that sounds all good, looking very impressive in the most recent videos too.

It’ll be the first Killzone game I’ve played, and the first FPS for ten years or more, so I’m expecting it will take me a heck of a lot longer than ten hours.
Eldur
These duration statements are so pointless.

Agreed, I tend to go through games quite methodically, so a game that would take someone 10 hours, may well take me 20 or more..

Ten hours, it’ll take me longer to download the 50gb ;-)
arrybags
Genuinely. I think it would take about 50 hours of it constantly downloading with my 2Mb connection.
Which is why digital download won’t work until infrastructure in this country is improved.

I’m in the same boat, I definitely prefer to get physical.
Vallon
Yep physical here too, hope it doesn’t mean psplus will be unviable for me but with 800kb/sec… :/
As for duration 10 hrs sounds about right, looking forward to this one.

Is it wrong of me to suggest that the fact they have had to only code this for PS4 (no cross platform, cross generation like all other next gen games), the fact they have no co-op local or online, no vehicles, then this game had better have an astonishing single player game. To me there are simply no excuses.
Too harsh?
