Quick Time Events Scrapped From Thief

Eidos have removed all quick time events (QTEs) from the forthcoming Thief game.

“We’re not implementing them,” said Valerie Bourdeau from Eidos. “To begin with, there were very few instances of QTEs in the game; in fact there was only one in that whole hour-long E3 demo. However, given the strong reactions it evoked in the press and the community, it was an easy decision to do away with them entirely. So we’re not doing it. No quick time.”

It was also revealed that Garrett will not be swimming in the game, “He would probably freeze to death, Pneumonia is no laughing matter in a world without antibiotics,” explained Valerie.

Back in October it was revealed that the in-game XP system had also been scrapped as fan feedback was not positive.

“Fans might be surprised how often the devs go to the forum to see how things are perceived in the real world,” said level designer Daniel Windfeld Schmid.

  1. Wow, talk about actually listening to fans. Good stuff.

  2. *fans complain about anything that differs from original games*

Developer listens, changes the game, releases it

*fans complain game does nothing new*

  3. Huzzah!!!!

Loved Thief on Xbox (bloody atmospheric) not a fan of QTE’s per say, so great result.
