Destiny Gets Three Different Collector’s Editions, One Including A Replica Ghost

Bungie has released details about Destiny’s Collector’s Editions, which were hinted at a while back, and has announced three different types featuring their own bonuses. One even has a replica Ghost for you to keep with you, though I doubt it’ll be able to hack terminals for you in reality. You’ll be able to choose between the Limited Edition, the Ghost Edition, and the Digital Guardian Edition.

Bungie has also revealed the beta for Xbox consoles will go live on July 23d.

The Limited Edition:

  • Limited edition SteelBook case and game disc
  • Guardian Folio, containing:
    • “Arms and Armament” Field Guide: Many believe the weapons and armor featured in this record are a myth. You will learn the truth.
    • Postcards from the Golden Age: Our worlds have been claimed by our enemies. Now, it’s time to take them back.
    • Antique Star Chart: Explore the wild frontiers of our solar system. Discover all that we have lost.
  • Collector’s edition digital content: The City has provided you with a cache of items to start you on your journey, including:
    • A Unique Ghost Casing
    • An Exclusive Player Emblem
    • An Exclusive Player Ship Skin
  • Includes the Destiny Expansion Pass*

Ghost Edition

DestinyCollect

  • Limited edition SteelBook case and game disc
  • Ghost Replica: This is your motion-sensing Ghost, featuring lights and audio from the game. May it lead you through the Darkness.
  • Letter of Introduction: These worlds were once ours. If you accept your destiny, you will be asked to do the impossible.
  • Golden Age Relics, which include a Patch, Sticker and two Chrome slides of the Traveler (was previously missing from the description)
  •  Collector’s Edition digital content: The City has also provided you with a cache of items to start you on your journey, including:
    • A Unique Ghost Casing
    • An Exclusive Player Emblem
    • An Exclusive Player Ship Skin
  •  Includes the Destiny Expansion Pass*

Digital Guardian Edition

  • Digital download of Destiny
  • Early access to Vanguard Armory and Player Emblem pre-order bonus
  • Reservation for two upcoming Destiny Expansions, “The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves,” featuring:
    • Brand new story missions
    • Cooperative and competitive multiplayer arenas
    • A wealth of all new weapons, armor, and gear to earn
  • Collector’s Edition Digital Content Pack: Exclusive in-game Ghost Casing, Player Ship, and Player Emblem
  • Includes the Destiny Expansion Pass*

The expansion pass mentioned in all three of the editions will give players access to the first two additional content packs titled The Dark Below, and House Of Wolves. I can’t see any prices yet but we’re sure to get them soon enough once the retailers start updating their databases. Will you be picking any of these up?

  1. Probably not. I expect them to be overpriced. And any Special Edition that doesn’t include the game’s soundtrack is very poor in my book.

  2. Will be sticking to the standard edition. None of that really interests me. I’m also sad enough to hate steelbooks because they don’t fit into my collection of lovely blue cases (somebody please shoot me).

I’ll probably pick up what looks to be a season pass though, always find it worthwhile because more content normally means bigger and better gaming, I use normally quite lightly.

  3. I’ve already pre-ordered the standard edition on PSN to get into the beta, will likely get the expansion pass too if sold separately. I’m guessing there’s no way to upgrade to the digital deluxe.

    • Apparently it will be possible to upgrade, so that’s a plus.

  4. Not interested in these. I refuse to pay over the odds for a couple of download codes and some tat.

I understand that they are going to get one of the little plastic ghost models to rerecord the dialogue in time for the September release, apparently a hollow plastic shell will be able to bring more to the role than the guy from game of thrones.

But seriously, WHERE’S MY BETA CODE?

  5. I’m quite partial to a nice steelbook, but not £88-worth of interested.

  6. IGN has the US version of the Ghost and Limited Editions as $149 and $99 respectively, and also states that the ‘Expansion Pass’ is $35 value, so probably £30 here – seems quite steep for a season pass (probably the most expensive I’ve seen) so will be interesting to see just how much content it actually contains.

  7. Crikey!
