Project CARS Multiplayer Trailer Released, Along With Confirmation Of Lobby Numbers

Slightly Mad Studios has released a new trailer for Project CARS’ multiplayer portion of the game, showing that you can play against anyone in the world. Along with the trailer comes confirmation of how players can join a race, with PS4, Xbox One, and PCs in 32-bit mode restricted to 16. You may have noticed a small snippet of that trailer showing 28 players connected, and that will be for the 32 player lobbies that are only available on PCs that are running in 64-bit mode.

There will be three types of lobbies available in Project CARs, including public ones where any can join for a quick race. Friend lobbies are pretty self explanatory, allowing you to play against friends online. Private lobbies are the third option and these are geared more towards leagues, where only people who meet a certain criteria set by the lobby host can be invited, like having to be a league member.

Project CARS is set for release on May 8th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A Wii U release date is still to be set.

  1. Well I for one think its long over due that 32bit lobbies are left behind….

  2. I wonder how they’ll deal with combining 32 and 64-bit players, unless they plan to segregate them. Then again every eligible CPU is 64-bit and I can’t imagine they’ll many people who’ll opt for 32-bit for lack of speed and RAM.

Perhaps the most disturbing thing is that the trailer is suppose to portray the ‘fun’ aspect of the game, yet this seems to irrevocably involve being bashed out or spinning out several times. 10/10 for realism I suppose.

    • “being bashed out or spinning out several times” that is online racing!!! At least the public lobbies anyway.

      • Fantastic answer.

Although it’s not my idea of online racing. It makes me think how important the single player is though, as I’m never going to bother with online crashfest 2015.

      • @Avenger That sounds ominously like a PS4 purchase is in the offing. Good on you dude, I’m pretty sure that most of the current GT6 crew will be there to race against in private lobbies for Project Cars online meets!

    • What about people who opt for 32 bit for compatibility? My brother’s got a few old games that won’t run at all on 64-bit Windows.

      • Yeah, there will be certain people who, for whatever reason, are on a 32-bit operating system. I just can’t imagine that many people being on 32-bit when the majority will have the option of 64-bit (with clear advantages too).

  3. Glad to see there are private lobbies and ones just for friends but I was expecting more than 16 players.

Can you earn the online trophies in all lobbies? Hope it’s not just the public ones.
