June PlayStation Plus Revealed, Adds MGS Ground Zeroes And More

The Konami/Kojima break up story continues to rumble on in the background, but today they’re grabbing headlines for a different reason as Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is set to star in the June update of the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection.

It’s joined on PS4 by Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition, while the PS3 gets Wild West shooter Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and the brutally tricky platformer Cloudberry Kingdom. The PS Vita, meanwhile, gets a pair of cross-buy games, with Futuridium and Super Exploding Zoo on both the handheld and the PS4.

Of course, you’ll want to make sure that you add all of the current crop of games to your download list, ahead of the switch over next Wednesday, 3rd June.

  1. I suppose that 1 hour of playtime, being AAA, is better than a several hour indie game to some!

Having said that, I didn’t end up finishing it… not my type of game. I havn’t heard of the other 3 PS4 games, but I’ll probably add Futuridium to the library, looks interesting.

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever played a Metal Gear game. I say played, because I ‘played’ an hour of Gun of Patriots and got bored of watching things. Is Ground Zeroes similar?

If it isn’t and it’s worth getting, then I may wait until the end of the month before subbing so I know what July will bring. It’s great to finally see an AAA PS4 game that’s certainly close to getting me to sub to Plus.

    • GotP is half movie half game. Buy some popcorn and enjoy the show.

    • Wouldn’t really call Ground Zeroes a triple A game. More a overpriced demo.

    • It’s not a ‘AAA game’, it’s a ‘aaa demo’.

I would never have paid for it but I’ll gladly try it for ‘free’. As it should have been all along.

    • MGS4 was probably one of the most overhyped games ever, I got so bored and quit. But, of course, it was very hip at the time to review it 10/10.
But, as I’ve just played through PT, I’d never say anything against Master Kojima… ;o)
Still, this looks like an okay month coming up, so I’ll renew Plus on the 2nd, to get all games of May and June.

    • Thanks for the responses guys, sounds like I should give this month a miss then!

  3. Well, people have been asking for a AAA title for some time… & I guess they’ll still be asking now! ;)

Don’t really get the inclusion of Ground Zeros to be honest – Anyone that is a MG fan will likely have already played it & those who haven’t probably didn’t want to! Although I suppose there must be a small demographic that did want to play, but didn’t want to pay that sort of money (based on content/playtime), so I guess it’s good for them. Doesn’t interest me in the slightest though unfortunately.

Bit of a theme running for me this month it seems. Not overly enamoured by any of that if I am honest. Sure there is plenty there for others to get stuck into though.

Does remind me that I should probably download last months offerings though. Oh & that I will need to renew my sub soon! :O

  4. I swear ground zeroes has been on ps+ before, I’ve got it on my hard drive and there’s no way I paid actual money for it. It was a quite enjoyable hour I had with the game but I couldn’t be bothered to go back to it after completing the main story thing.

    • Nope it hasnt.

    • It’s been on sale for about £5 on the store I think.

      • Ooh, kick in the MahoneyJambleDangles at that price.
Must admit nothing grabs this month I’ll just get my PS4 online quota instead ;)

    • I remember it was a cock-up from the store and Ground Zero was free for a couple of hours. Could be that?

  5. Lol Metal Gear. That’ll be the first game in a long time I won’t bother downloading.

  6. I’ll take Futuridium and Call of Juarez.

The line up is something at least, even if MGS and CoJ have been less than £4 in previous sales and most people have likely bought, and there are indie games which in no way use the full power of the console and are about as entertaining as the other thousand platformers/stick shooters out there.

    • I think a lot of people with overlook Call of Juarez but if it’s that arcadie shooter one, it’s brilliant – very fun game!

      • I think a lot of people are overlooking CoJ. It seems to me to be a pretty solid shooter and some good fun, so I’d say to others it’s worth a try. It looks a bit like Red Dead Redemption in many respects.

  7. Well this is truly the first month of PS+ on PS4 that I’ve been looking forward to. Colour me impressed.

  8. Not much that i’m interested in this month, i’ll probably try CloudBerry, Futuridium and Exploding Zoo and hopefully one of those will provide more than a momentary distraction.

  9. 4 out of 6 new games for me this time. An improvement over last month.

Having already got both the PS3 games, I can recommend Call of Juarez as lots of fun. And Cloudberry Kingdom as “lots of fun, but you’re going to destroy 1 or more controllers, get annoyed with it, and then come back 5 minutes later”.

The 2 new games look interesting (especially Exploding Zoo), and I’ll give the others (MGS/Futuridium) a go too. Not a bad month, overall.

  10. Ground Zeroes is fantastic, and offers a lot more than an hours worth of gameplay.

Nobody ever says a game like GTA or Elder Scrolls is short when you can beat the main story relatively quickly. Because there are other things to do. The gameplay of Ground Zeroes is fantastic, the graphics are stunning and some of my friends have spent months trying to rack up high scores and perfect all the missions.

Yes, it’s not Fallout 4, but it’s hardly a bad game or a demo.

    • Good to see some positive comments for Ground Zeroes! Personally, I’ve been playing it for about 15 hours trying to collect everything so I was happy to stump up £25. It’s just like the hugely user appreciated Peace Walker, you could finish the main story quickly in six hours, the extended story in a seven but to totally ring it dry took close to 100. Metal Gear games can be very good value, if you take the time to get under the skin.

      What’s Futuridium all about then?
