Submerged Release Date Revealed As August 5th For PS4

Word from Australia over the weekend is that Submerged, a combat-free exploration game that sees the main character gather supplies to aid her injured brother, will be launching next week on August 5th on PS4. And if you do intend to play on PS4, you may also want to take advantage of the 20% discount for PlayStation Plus members at launch. The announcement only mentioned the PS4 version but it looks like it’s also hitting Steam on the same day, and Xbox One owners can expect to get it on August 7th.

A screenshot and a gameplay trailer were included with the announcement, and they can all be seen below.

  1. I really like the look of this but I`m really going to have to finish a game or two before I allow myself to buy this…

  2. Looks quite interesting. Are you guys going to review this?

  3. I’m guessing either this or Galak-Z are likely to be the new free game for PS+ in August.

  4. I didn’t see any Stormtroopers in that trailer so I’m not interested.

  5. I’ve been looking forward to this but the gameplay footage hasnt sold me on it. Given that a couple of other games i was looking forward to, Toren & Wander, were not what i hoped for i think i’ll wait for a review. Hopefully a trusted TSA review.

  6. I hadn’t heard of this before, but it does look interesting. I want to like the survival genre, but I get put off by the fact every game is early access and is too heavily focused on PvP, so this maybe the one for me.

    • I actually hadn’t heard of this either, but I read “Submerged, a combat-free exploration game” as “a series of fetch quests that see you endlessly going from point A to point B to gather supplies & occasionally, it’s off to point C!”. GTA (et al) get criticised for this all the time, but at least in those games you can mow a few helpless civilians down on the way to keep things interesting!

I dunno, maybe I’m selling it short, but it certainly hasn’t piqued my interest.

      • I’ll certainly be watching some Let’s Plays and Twitch streams before I consider buying it, but the video has at least piqued my interest into researching more into it.

If any developer wants a sale though, the easiest way to get my money is a good ol’ fashioned demo. Games have gone up in price, so this generation especially I’m even less likely to buy a game (in fact I’ve only bought 1 so far!)

  7. I’m really interested in this game and I want to support it from day one. It’s just too often that it ends up on PS Plus shortly after release or on a PSN flash sale within two months. It would be nice if they had compulsory 6 months period before that could happen.
