We had Kingdom Hearts 1, then Kingdom Hearts 2, then rumours of Kingdom Hearts 3, then Kingdom Hearts 1.5, then Kingdom Hearts 2.5 and somewhere in the middle of that Kingdom Hearts 3 was officially confirmed.
Now thanks to the LinkedIn Profile of Richard W. VanDeventer, a Square Enix games designer, we have news of Kingdom Hearts 2.9.
Richard also lists Kingdom Hearts 3, so it’s not a code name for that title, and his page states that his 2.9 duties include “Boss planning” and “Game idea planning and documentation.” That sounds like additional content has been added to Kingdom Hearts 2.5 and more interestingly, 2.9 is listed for both PS3 and PS4.
Could Kingdom Hearts 2.9 be super polished PS4 version of the game with some additional levels? It would certainly be a good introduction to Kingdom Hearts 3. Maybe Square Enix will reveal something at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
