Assetto Corsa Releases On PS4 And Xbox One On April 22nd

Kunos Simulazioni has confirmed that the racing simulator Assetto Corsa will release on PS4 and Xbox One April 22nd, and the Ferrari FXX-K will be on the cover. Players will be able to tune all the vehicles in the game, of which there are more than 90, to suit their racing styles. Driver attributes and collision settings will be customisable too to suit all player preferences.

Assetto Corsa will have 20 track configurations and will feature the likes of Monza, Silverstone, and Nürburgring. It is already available to pre-order from various places, though there don’t seem to be any bonuses.

  1. The game I’m most looking forward to this year as it’s reckoned to be the best racer on PC.
I wonder if they are including the ‘Dream Packs’ or releasing them as DLC?

    • Apparently all the dream packs will be included in the console verisons from day one.

      • That’s good news, nice one Kunos

  2. I’ve been waiting for the released date to be announced for this like an excited puppy! Hope it doesn’t get delayed. We also have DiRT Rally coming on consoles in the same month also can’t wait for that ether . It will be great month for racing simulators on consoles and great year hopefully to.

  3. Looking forward to Dirt Rally as well, definitely a good month for sim racers.
I wonder if either will support PSVR?

  4. *reads first line*

    So it’s a sim then.

Seriously, is it too much to ask to have an arcade racer release that allows for multiplayer & mucho bashing? Dirt Showdown 2 would be awesome, or Motorstorm Apocalypse 2, or even a new Burnout. I’m not fussy!

    • Made me think just how many sims are making it out onto the market, but not many arcade racers. There’s NFS and The Crew, but some Burnout style mayhem is definitely needed.

I love the fact there’s so many racing sims coming out. Personally I don’t mind arcade racing as long as it’s pure arcade (just for fun), and not some formal racing/driving culture game with a shite arcade handling model.

      • Yeah, you have NFS (which is decent in small doses), The Crew (which was ok for a while, but still kinda ‘meh’) & to a lesser extent Driveclub, but other than that, I would kinda struggle to think of another decent arcade racer.

Granted, they weren’t ten a penny on the PS3 either, but you did at least have Blur, Split Second, Burnout, Dirt Showdown & motorstorm apocalypse that all dealt with the arcadey smash ‘em up type driving. Nothing seems to cater for that so far & its annoying the wife, as I think she wants to take out some aggression on R1MJAW & Pixel! ;)

Just can’t deal with sims myself. Sometimes remembering to change my clothes is hard enough, let alone what differential I need with what tyres for a particular race (& as you can see, I know next to nothing about ‘serious’ driving!).

      • Aw, I’d like a Blur 2, and a Project Gotham Racing 5. It’s such a shame that the developer behind those two game went bust at a time when Activision was more interested in bailing out Infinity Ward. I feel like we need at least one more iteration of every brilliant arcade racing game from the last gen (something I honestly can’t say for NFS).

      • I would properly give my left testicle for a Split Second 2, but as the developer is no more, I feel my baby making factory will remain whole for the foreseeable.

  5. This or Project Cars? Looking to get one on PC in the next sale.

    • PCars is a racing game, Assetto Corsa is more of a hot lap simulator. Take your pick. I’d probably get Corsa for the handling and laser scanned tracks.

      • What do you mean by hot lap sim exactly? Is it more like just doing time trials, trying to beat your time with different set ups etc?

      • Yeah pretty much. A bit like GT it doesn’t have wildly good AI or a lengthy career, and the most satisfaction from the online will come from a group of friends rather than randoms. Hence, the most enjoyment to be had is from the physics model and laser-scanned tracks which serve well for doing nothing but driving constantly doing hot laps (or time trials if you like). That said, there are mods to liven things up a bit, and if you do have a group of friends to race against then there’s a good chunk of time to be had in the online.

In comparison PCars at least has a lot more career content and more challenging AI.

      • Hmm, Project Cars sounds more fun to me at least, I watch some game play videos I think. Thanks :)
