CEO of Sega, Hajime Satomi, has confirmed the release date of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie which will hitting cinemas in 2018.
Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie scheduled for release in 2018. Like with this CG animation production, we would like to expand our business into other entertainment areas beyond what we are currently involved.
It’s a bit odd that Sonic, who hasn’t had a hit game in many years, gets his movie greenlit and yet the Uncharted movie is still in development hell. If you are wondering what a live action Sonic film would look like, take a gander at this fan film from three years ago.
