[UPDATE] The Battleborn Beta Is Live On PS4 But There’s A Problem

Gearbox’s open beta for Battleborm is now live on PlayStation 4 and people are ready to play, except they can’t. For some reason Gearbox have implemented a queue system, you can’t just jump in and play the game, you have to sit and wait on the menu screen with no indication of how long it will be until you can play.

You can’t even go in the character customisation options or play the story mode.

I had to wait about thirty minutes before it started matchmaking which took a few minutes, then you have to wait again to connect to a server, but that keeps on timing out as well. Others have been waiting much longer, and as you might expect they are not very pleased.

Gearbox say they are “working to open more servers & reduce queue times.”
UPDATE: Gearbox now say more servers are online and wait times have been improved “greatly”.

  1. I waited for 20 minutes to get in. Got 2 matches in, then got errored out and back to queue. After that, I quit Battleborn, played Smite, then Gems of War. I’ll try playing Battleborn again tomorrow and see if the server issues get fixed. It’s a fun game, but it’s very unbalanced. Melee characters get massacred while ranged characters have it easy. I remember fighting as the bow and arrow chick against the red sword guy and I beat him while he was slashing on me. I would think that a melee character who has the jump on a squishy bow and arrow sniper would win, but nooo. Either he sucked, I’m better, or something is unbalanced. I even played as the red sword guy and only got 2 kills.

  2. Well from my time in the closed beta I would say the queue to get into the game would be the least boring part of the whole experience.

  3. you’d hope they’d learn from this and make sure it works at the actual launch.
but i’ve seen too many game launches to believe that.

    • Well it is a beta. That’s kind of what a beta is put out there for.

  4. I’ve just had my first go and got in without any issues. Not my cup of tea though.

  5. I managed to get on, then about 15mins deleted it. Like Carrot & BryOnRye, it certainly isn’t my cup of tea either – I’d rather play Plants V Zombies.
