Sales of two of Sony’s products have seen incredible surges on Amazon thanks to Black Friday deals. At the time of writing the PlayStation 4 Pro has jumped to the top of the PC & video games category with a sales boost of 1,112%. The Xbox One S is in second place with a boost of 762% and the Switch is also doing well with boost of 112%.
The Xbox One X is nowhere to be seen in the top hundred at present, I wonder how many ill-informed parents are snapping up the Xbox One S in the sale and thinking it’s an X?
It was a different story earlier in the week when the PlayStation VR price cuts were announced and the various PSVR bundles saw an incredible 46,700% increase in sales, making the number one selling product on Amazon UK at the time. That’s the whole of Amazon, not just the video games category. It seems Amazon has sold every PSVR bundle it has and it’s now currently out of stock.
Sounds like Sony should make that price cut a permanent thing.

The number what? 1 ?

The PSVR bundle is an incredible deal with the discount, not surprised it was whipped up straight away.

Excellent news and very well played once again by Sony. I purchased a White PS4 Pro myself yesterday. Looks great.

For VR or do you have a 4K telly (or both)?
JR.
Neither actually but I tend to buy a new console every 2 years to avoid any potential ageing hardware issues. I’ve had the original black, original white, pro black and pro white. This will probably be my last PS4 before the PS5 arrives (unless they release a grey ‘Anniversary’ Pro… :D).
I still prefer having the Pro over the standard because even without a 4k TV, I can still see a boost in performance. My PS4 is only hooked up to a 32” TV at the moment anyway. Plus, the Pro runs quieter than the regular PS4 and I do plan to buy PSVR eventually (some good deals at the moment).
To be honest, mostly I just prefer the look of the Pro. It looks smart in white.

Currently sold out but John Lewis are doing the VR bundle with Skyrim for £230. Definitely worth singing up for a stock alert on that one!

Please don’t ‘singing up’ any Christmas carols, not just yet… ;-D

So we can confidently call bs on Sony’s previous line that they couldn’t keep up with demand and it was selling out as fast as they could make them. They’ve been languishing on shelves for months haven’t they.
Stefan L
Yes and no. I don’t think Sony have said anything like that since around the start of the year, they’ve just been very cautious about giving meaningful updates on the lack of progress. As for languishing on shelves, the units going on sale were those in new bundles that feature GT Sport and SKyrim. There might have been some channel clearing sales as well, but it feels like they’ve probably let the supply trickle during the summer with these bundles and Black Friday in mind.

Overnight I saw a lot of VR and camera bundles including a separate game or two, so like Tef says it could’ve been clearing stock that’s been steadily building up for months.
I’d love to know if any of this stuff is selling at a loss, Gran Turismo Sport’s price has plummeted with offers starting around £30 this week and quickly dropping under £18 last night. Does anyone know why it is that all retailers are heavily discounting the same few games, like GT?
Dange
Yeah the price of GT Sport does stand out as really cheap considering how long it’s been out. And with the huge free content update incoming I would’ve thought that would help sell the game well.

” I wonder how many ill-informed parents are snapping up the Xbox One S in the sale and thinking it’s an X?”
Fanboy alert…. Already preparing excuses it seems. The Xbox one X is overpriced and lacks games and the PS4 Pro offers a far more balanced price/performance offering, that’s a far more logical conclusion.
Its interesting there is no Microsoft shouting out about sales numbers (via it’s stooges at ganesindustry) after the initial weeks sales… Go figure…
