Wii To Increase In Price?

VG247 are reporting that Nintendo are to raise the price it charges the UK retail trade for the Wii hardware by between £18 and £20.  It’s unclear whether this increase will be passed to the consumer, but we assume the margin is fairly tight as it is, so it’s safe to also assume the retail price of the Wii will rise to just shy of £200.

“We are only – reluctantly – raising our trade price now to retailers due to unprecedented and sustained depreciation of the pound,” Nintendo told VG247 in a statement today.  “This is a problem brought about by extreme currency fluctuations that are a symptom of the global economic situation.”  Will SCEE follow suit, or is there enough buoyancy in the PS3’s price?
