Almost a complete set of new songs in August’s Top 20 with just three hangers on from last month and no new entries. One of those three remaining tracks is Evanescence’s My Immortal which has appeared in all four of the SingStore Top 20 lists so far and was number one back in June.
It probably will not come as any surprise to you to find out that all seventeen of the other songs in the top 20 débuted on the SingStore in the two August updates. There is a fairly even split between the two with nine tracks from the update on the 6th versus eight from the update on the 20th.
The benefit of those extra two weeks on the SingStore for the tracks in the earlier update is clearer when we look just at the top ten where they occupy six of the slots leaving just three for tracks from the 20th. The bottom ten obviously reverses that trend with the share being five to three in favour of the latter update.
Making it into the top ten with only a week and a half of sales is quite an achievement though so I will give a quick shout out to Lady Gaga featuring Colby O’Donis, Aqua and Timbaland featuring OneRepublic to congratulate them on racking up their sales so quickly.
I have to wonder who is buying The Wet’s cover version of the The Troggs hit Love Is All Around though. Didn’t we all hear enough of that song when it got played to death everywhere while spending months at number one? Though depressingly, I guess some of you are too young to remember that hideous period during the summer of 1994.
