UK Games Charts 18/01/14: Killzone Climbs, GTA V Drops

Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity? Insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again, expecting stuff to change. That is crazy.

Despite Far Cry 3 being nowhere to be found in the top 40 UK games sold in the last week, I can’t help but think of Vaas’ brilliant monologue when this post goes up every monday, and FIFA 14 comes in first place, followed by Call of Duty, Battlefield and Assassin’s Creed.

It’s because we’re in January – people aren’t buying too many games, and if they are then there’s no new releases to excitedly forge a new number one. People are buying franchises that they know, and each week the top 10 stays relatively the same.

There is a new entry, at number 18, with Mario Party: Island Tour, and GTA V has dropped from the top five to number nine, with Killzone Shadow Fall jumping back up to sixth place now that more PS4s are in stock, but there’s little change elsewhere.

  1. Glad to see Killzone up a few places.

  2. I liked Dead Island: Riptide but even I’m thinking “what the hell is THAT doing in the charts?” :D

    • It’s been on a sale a lot. Nearly picked it up in GAME a few weeks back. They had millions of copies of Aliens going for £3 too.

  3. Individual format charts have KZ at 2 – which is nice.

I enjoyed the SP campaign, liked the direction they took the series in. It’s not ground breaking by any means but a nice counter to the set-piece-boom-bang-kerwhizz that CoD and BF have become. Really enjoying MP now. Reminds me of CoD4 in some respects. Map design and distinction/variety in play styles because of this in particular.
