Overwatch might be a hugely popular game, but the fact that it could hold down the last couple of weeks at the top of the charts showed that there wasn’t much going on in the way of game releases. It’s time to liven things up, as we get halfway through September and into the busiest period of the year.
So it’s a testament to the popularity and longevity of the series that Bioshock: The Collection was able to sweep into first place, ahead of PES 2017 and NBA 2K17. PES was actually down by 3% on its first week sales from last year, though this could easily be covered by a slight shift towards digital sales, and there’s good news as the current gen versions made up 93% of that tally, compared to 86% last year.
NBA 2K17 made up the top three, with Overwatch pushed down to fourth ahead of another new entry in ReCore. Dragon Quest VII entered in 12th place on the 3DS, while NHL 17 could only muster 15th, and Batman – The Telltale Series’ retail release came in 19th.
