There is no doubt that you have all done it. You know what I’m talking about. You have all watched the video to ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ on your PS3. Then, you all went and watched ‘Thriller’, didn’t you? Vidzone, the amazing application that allows us to do this free-of-charge, have announced that they have no plans to extend their streaming service to the XBox 360.
If you currently own a Microsoft console then you will already be aware that you can pay up to 300 MS Points to download videos from Vidzone, but the streaming service will not be coming your way.
Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Vidzone’s director of new music development, Michael Russo, said:
“There’s no real plan for us to do anything there, all the focus is going into PlayStation and it’s a very different service to what we run on the PS3.”
“[Xbox 360] is a very different service to what we’ve got on PlayStation. Nothing is given away for free, there’s no element of streaming, it’s all pay-to-own downloadable music video content. It’s a smaller business for us and we only represent the independent labels”
“The PS3 offering is much more of a proper consumer product.”
Vidzone also stated that they will be rolling out new additions in the near future and that some of those will be ‘major features’. Also, whilst being silent regarding a US expansion, have also said that they will be adding 11 new regions to their service; meaning that by Christmas, 18 countries in total will be able to scare themselves rotten with as much Aphex Twin madness as you could possibly want.
